Key Features of the Mod
Political Traits
The mod introduces six new political traits:
Progressive
Conservative
Libertarian
Socialist
Nationalist
Environmentalist
Apolitical
Each trait impacts your Sim’s personality, interactions, and buffs. Political traits are assigned via the in-game trait picker. To assign a trait:
- Click on your active Sim.
- Select the Political Trait Picker interaction.
- Choose a political trait for your Sim
NPC Political Trait Assignment
NPC Sims are auto-assigned a political trait at random, based on criteria such as the world they live in, their personality traits, and their career. This feature ensures a diverse political landscape in your game.
Political Preferences and Romance
Sims now have romantic compatibility based on political preferences. Watch as opposites attract or repel!
Political preferences can only be assigned in Create-a-Sim (CAS)
Political Gurus
Meet the Political Gurus! Each political trait is associated with a pre-made Sim guru who serves as a mentor and ideological figurehead. These gurus randomly appear at specific venues at certain times in the day and can help your Sim build political influence, gain buffs, and form alliances.
Don’t want real-life figures in your game? No problem! You can swap them for fictional gurus instead! These fictional counterparts reflect the spirit of each ideology while keeping your save light-hearted.
Where to find them:
Guru's Political Trait | Venues |
Nationalist | Bar, Club, Lounge, Museum |
Progressive | Library, Cafe, RecCenter, Arts Center |
Conservative | Library, Museum, Lounge |
Libertarian | Bar, ThriftStore, Lounge, Small Businesses |
Technocrat | Arts Center, Library, Karaoke |
Socialist | Park, Cafe, RecCenter |
Environmentalist | Myshuno Meadow, Park, RecCenter |
Guru Perks & Powers
Each guru offers a signature gameplay feature tied to their political ideology. But these benefits aren’t handed out freely, you’ll need to earn their trust through relationships and aligned behaviour.
Guru Feature | Description |
---|---|
Greenfinger Touch | Build a strong relationship with the Environmentalist Guru, and your Sim may be granted the Greenfinger Touch, a free, garden-saving visit that brings your plants back to life and soothes your eco-conscience. But don’t expect instant charity; their trust grows like compost: slowly, warmly, and with effort. |
Homeland Protection | Earn the approval of the Nationalist Guru, and your Sim unlocks the Call Homeland Protection phone interaction. This summons a private neighbourhood defence unit in place of the police if a burglar appears. They respond quickly—and aggressively. Abuse this power, and your Sim may face serious backlash for false alarms. |
Tax Loopholes | Forge a relationship with the Conservative Guru, and your Sim can request access to a discreet tax loophole. If successful, they’ll receive a generous payout. But loopholes don’t last forever, and creative accounting might catch unwanted attention from tax officials. |
Black Market Access | Befriend the Libertarian Guru to unlock the Black Market Deal, a hidden interaction available from 6pm to 6am that lets your Sim sell inventory items for untaxed profit. Libertarian Sims receive better prices. Caught selling? Expect fines and increased surveillance. This feature also supports items from Basemental Drugs, expanding your Sim’s access to the underground economy. |
Gift of Support | If your Sim’s household funds dip below a certain threshold and they’ve built a solid friendship with the Socialist Guru, they may receive an unprompted financial boost. But generosity only flows toward those who’ve earned their trust. |
New Interactions
Your Sims can:
- Debate various politics topics
- Deliver specific Political speeches to the masses to win support.
200 New Colourful Buffs
The mod introduces over 200 new buffs, adding depth and variety to gameplay. These buffs are tied to political traits, interactions, and events, offering unique emotional responses and gameplay dynamics.
Political Skill
The Political World Mod introduces the Political Influence Skill, enabling Sims to navigate the political landscape. As Sims progress through the ten levels of this skill, they unlock new interactions and abilities that increase their influence:
- Level 1: Sims can research politics on the computer.
- Level 2: Self-reflection helps Sims gain influence and strengthen their stance.
- Level 3: Share political memes to influence others humorously.
- Level 4: Post political rants on social media to attract attention.
- Level 5: Conduct a Political Census to discover political traits in the world.
- Level 6: Host structured debate panels to sway opinions.
- Level 7: Present impactful TED Talk-style speeches.
- Level 8: Appear on popular talk shows to shape public perception.
- Level 9: Spread misinformation to strategically influence views.
- Level 10: Use advanced influence to cancel other Sims and shape social dynamics.
Political Census
When a Sim conducts a Political Census, they can view the number of Sims with each political trait in the world. This feature provides valuable insights into the political landscape, helping players strategize and understand the dominant ideologies in their game.
Cancel Culture
This mod introduces a Cancel Culture mechanic that adds drama and consequences to your Sims’ social interactions. Features include:
- Cancel Another Sim: Select a Sim and use the Cancel [Sim Name] interaction. The targeted Sim will experience social backlash, losing friendships and social standing temporarily.
- Complain About Cancel Culture: Sims can express their frustrations about cancel culture in conversations, leading to buffs based on their political traits.
- Redemption Options: Canceled Sims have the opportunity to redeem themselves by either:
- Pleading for redemption from a Political Guru.
- Making a public apology post via the computer.
Community Engagement Event
Organize a Community Engagement event to bring your neighbours and other Sims together for discussions, speeches, and activities based on political ideologies. This event can be planned through the calendar or phone.
Master of Influence Aspiration
This aspiration allows Sims to climb the ranks of political influence:
Reward Trait: Master of Influence
Sims with this trait are charismatic and persuasive, excelling in political discussions, debates, and relationship-building. They can also manipulate other Sims to change their political trait to match their own, solidifying their influence in the political landscape.
Illuminati Feature
At Political Influence Skill Level 8, Sims may receive a mysterious phone call inviting them to a secret Illuminati trial, where Sims must complete a series of tests to prove their worth and be accepted into the illuminati.
Illuminati Member Benefits
Sims who complete the trials gain exclusive perks, including:
- Faster career promotions within politics and business.
- Increased influence over other Sims in debates and public speeches.
- Special networking opportunities with high-ranking Sims.
- Secret interactions, such as cryptic handshakes and ominous discussions.
lluminati NPCs
Some NPCs in the world will be secretly assigned as Illuminati members. When near a potential member, Sims will receive a buff, hinting at hidden power.
Sims can attempt to ask if they are a member, but success depends on charisma, relationships, and chance.
New Lot Traits
This mod introduces six new Lot Traits, each appealing to different political ideologies and shaping the environment for Sims:
- Charity Focused Community – A lot dedicated to charity work and helping those in need.
- Community Garden – A lot that supports communal living and shared gardening.
- Corporate District – A lot known for its corporate presence and business-friendly environment.
- Law and Order Zone – A tightly regulated lot where rules and laws are strictly enforced.
- National Heritage Site – A proud symbol of history and tradition where nationalist Sims feel inspired.
- Nationalist Stronghold – A zone where national pride is celebrated.
🌈 LGBTQ+ Friendly Version Available:
An inclusive version of the guru add-ons is available for players who prefer a game experience that avoids anti-LGBTQ+ themes. If you choose this version, make sure to only install the LGBTQ+ friendly package (not both).
💬 I’m also happy to make further amendments to the LGBTQ+ friendly version if you find any themes, such as xenophobia or other content distressing or triggering. Your feedback is always welcome.

Love the mod so far, but I just can't find "Research politics" anywhere on my computer. The only related thing I saw was political rants upon reaching lvl 3 of influence skill, but I'm not able to progress my aspiration further
Came here to second the comment about the mod being a bit intense in terms of buffs sometimes. I absolutely love this mod, as it adds a lot of unique flavor and personality to Sims, but I do really wish there was a way to tone down the buffs. If a sim is very into politics, for example when they want to become a politician themselves or when they are active protesters etc, then I would understand it if they have buffs about their political alignment all the time. But most of my Sims aren't that much into politics. Some of them, for example, might be more active when the election comed around, and then there's the ones who have a basic idea of their alignment.. but that's about it for them.
I would love it if we could perhaps even specify per sim just how much they are affected by their alignment. So a sim that is very affected will have buffs very often, a sim that is normally affected will have them every so often and very unaffected would rarely have the buffs. I guess permanently affected and never affected would also be valid options to add as well. I mean being a politician means you're affected by politics pretty much all the time, right? So they could have the buffs on literally all the time. And the never affected Sims would only be prompted for a buff if someone else brought it up, but never just by themselves.
Plus it would be great if we could actively switch between the strength levels of the buffs too, just likes with the alignments themselves, as interests can fluctuate over time. Most of my teens won't be as interested in politics, but as soon as they age it suddenly becomes more relevant to them. Right now I have teens stressed over bills when they don't even have to pay anything as they are living with (young) adult / elder Sims and that feels a little odd 😅
I hope it makes sense what I'm trying to say! It's not meant as criticism, I just wanted to throw some ideas out there 😄 All in all a great and highly recommended mod that I can't imagine not having in my game now! Thank you for creating this and keep up the good work 👏
Thanks so much for the kind words and thoughtful feedback! 😊 I totally get what you mean, not every sim should feel like politics is their whole personality. I love the idea of setting how politically affected a Sim is, with a varying degree of levels which can change that over time.
I haven't focused on the teen perspective when it comes to politics but i will make some tweaks for my next update so that it takes that into account.
Really appreciate you sharing your ideas, it helps so much with improving the mod! 💙
Hi - I like this mod a lot, because it does add a lot of realism to be able to discuss political topics, have certain lot types, and be uncomfortable or more comfortable around people of a similar political alignment. But I'm curious if there's any possibility to make it less intense? The political gurus are *always* at the bars, no matter what (is it possible to play without the political guru file at all?). My Sims are also just constantly suspicious of Illuminati members and I don't know how to make a Sim no longer a member of the Illuminati. And maybe just reducing how often they have moodlets about their political ideology? (I love the moodlets based on their conversations with other Sims, but if they are *always* feeling energized because of being a socialist or happy because of not being politically engaged, it's a bit too much)
Hello! Thank you for your feedback, i do appreciate it.
Your suggestions definitely make sense. i can reduce the chance of the gurus being at certain locations. I purposely put the logic so that they show up everyday at those venues.
For my next update i will also reduce the intensity of the buffs.
Hello this is a wonderful mod but unsure where to download this mod?
It doesnt give me an option at all
I really like the concept of this mod but I know I wouldn't be able to stand using it given that there are real politicians included in it. If you're taking suggestions, I'd like to suggest an option to turn off the inclusion of real politicians and instead replace the gurus with fictional sims.
Edit: Just noticed that you stated in a reply below that this is already planned!! Looking forward to trying out this mod once that update is released.
Completely understand!! This feature is actually getting added tomorrow!!! 😀😀😀Check out my patreon for regular updates!!!
Love this mod!
Is there a way to reduce the the possibilty that that npc get the Illuminati Member Trait? For me it seems that anybody around me is a member. My sim live in a dorm right now and every roomate is a member Oo
ahh thank you!! and yes omg i will reduce the percentage possibility for this as that should definitely not be the case.. Will update this week with this amendment
Thank you soo much
Been playing around with this mod for a bit, must say I really love how in depth it is. I do have a few suggestions if you are open to them.
1. Add an Apolitical/Unaffliated option, for sims who are either unsure on where they align or don't care for politics.
2. I see prefrences only have a left, right and center option, prehaps you could also include "Political Opinions" as a way to add in some more nuance behind a sim's beliefs, such as a Progressive sim who is also supportive of Firearms or a more Conservative sim who is more open to the LGBT+. Opinions could be tied to specific topics, specific sims or specific actions which would also affect a sim's mood and prehaps choosing a prefrence that is normally contradictory to whatecer the alignment normally has it as, the prefrence takes priorty.
3. I personally don't have any issues with the Gurus being based off actual people, but I imagine some people might not like that so much, and although it would be easy to manually change everyone, I would suggest a version that has all Gurus be original characters instead.
Ahh thank you so much ! I am glad you are enjoying and i ALWAYS welcome feedback! Your suggestions are great ! i have received the same feedback from others on the apolitical trait and fictional gurus and they will definitely be part of my next updates next week :)
Great idea on incorporating the political opinion into preferences i think that will definitely add more depths to gameplay. I think this will be something i could incorporate when i have been able to add more features like elections, politicians, etc .
If you need a list of political opinions, I could suggest a few.
I already mentioned Firearms and LGBT+, others could be Faith, Womens Rights, Mens Rights, Drugs, Crypto (Or some Simified varient), Imigration, Medical Freedom/ Vaccines, Abortion, Freedom of Speech, Taxe.
I would've included stuff like Enviroment or Veganism, but that might be contridictory with the Enviromentalist position. Maybe theres more other people can come up with as well.
I was just wondering why "Technocrat" appears to have a Guru, but can't be chosen as a political view.
I dont think technocrats is a political philosophy?? I just wanted to add elon musk as a political guru in the game but didnt feel like his political views aligns with any political view....
That makes sense. You might look into transhumanism for inspiration.
Hello :) I just installed your mod and my sim who has his own tattoo studio drew the trait that he doesn't want to work under someone and is fed up with it, so does the mod version include the latest Businesses and Hobbies expansion? Because there is a huge contradiction between who my sim is and has his own small business and the political views drawn.
Hey! The mod gives Sims political traits based on their other traits or the region they’re in, but it’s really up to you how (or if) that affects their lifestyle. If your Sim owns a business and ended up Libertarian, that actually fits pretty well. they’d much rather be their own boss than work under “the man.” But if there’s ever a weird mix, that’s kind of the point! You get to decide if they roll with it or shake things up 😄
hi! So I run into the same issue, my libertarian sim business owners are always tense from working under someone even though they’re their own boss
That's it, he's mad at himself for being the boss of his own business :P Maybe there's a way to fix this
Ahhh I seee!! Sorry i misunderstood.. i will get this fixed this week
Thank you very much !
Hellooo!! Just letting you know that i fixed this issue with today's mod update ! :) Enjoy!
What exactly is the difference between the two versions?
hello!! I did a post about it on my patreon and will add here too.
Some gamers asked for a version of the mod that didnt include bigotry interactions as it can be triggering
I'm having an issue trying to change my sims' alignments - the "assign political trait" button doesn't pop up when I click on my sim. I have the other necessary mods (Injector script, injection tool, and the zerbu requirements.
check the folder structure that when you unzipped the folder you dont have another subfolder within it
(e.g., Mods > PoliticalWorldMod instead of Mods > PoliticalWorldMod > AnotherFolder).
I've done that - it seems I can shift-click into it, but the specific button doesn't exist and neither do the discussion topics (political debate topics) button, but the lot traits & political influence skill work
How strange, i have tested and its working for me..
are you able to join my discord server and send me an exception report
I'm having trouble finding your discord link on your page
Sorry its on my patreon.

I am going to try this mod. This is funny.
I seen another mod/trait that had these as the parties
''Simdipendent, Plumbobicans, Llamacrat''
I would say trump is an oligarch who is an asset of putin (nationalist).
Thanks! Hope you have fun with it. I’ve seen Kiara's political party trait mods too! Definitely interesting how different creators approach it. I wanted to make mine more globally relevant, but a Simlish take is always fun and i do intend to make an immersive/simlish version of this mod that isnt based on real life.
i included trump as i do think he has had an insane effect on nationalist movements across the world but i am thinking about replacing some of the gurus so isnt that much american influence.
Yes. Thank you for the mod.
